Book and Market Value Comes to Advance

Book and Market Values are now available in Advance. They will be updated quarterly, approximately 6-8 weeks after the ending of the quarter. The information can be found on the Financial tab of the Allocation Stewardship Profile window for the Endowment or Named Suspense Endowments you are looking for. Update on Exchange Email and Calendaring

As you have heard from various OIT emails, the campus is changing the way we do email and calendaring in the coming months. We are moving our services to Microsoft’s Exchange Server. What does this mean for you? Well, I will address the two areas separately.

Over the next two weeks, the OIT will be migrating our mail from the current server to the new Microsoft server. This process has been done for hundreds of users on campus and some of us in DIS already. This move is strictly “behind the scenes” and doesn’t require us to do anything differently with our email. Everything should work as it does today. But, in preparation for calendaring, we will also need to migrate everyone that is currently using Eudora over to Microsoft Outlook. This will not only get the entire department to an email program that is fully supported (currently Eudora is not), but will open up many additional features in the coming weeks as the Microsoft Exchange services are made available to us. There are approximately 50 people currently using Eudora. We have already converted many in the department and are very familiar with this process. It will require us to come to your computer and install the latest version of Outlook and run the conversion utility to move your email to Outlook. This process will take about 90 minutes. We will be in contact with you regarding the best time to do this conversion. Training on Outlook and how to access your email will also be made available to you. For those of you already using Outlook, all that is needed is a slight configuration change and we will follow up with further communications regarding that as well. Additionally, there is a new web mail program (OWA) that has many more features and functions than the current webmail. More information will be provided on this at a later date as well. For our off campus staff, we will be contacting you and working directly with you to get your software upgraded and provide you with training.

Calendaring

During the week of January 5th, after our holidays, the OIT will be migrating all meetings from Corporatetime to Microsoft Exchange. You will access and maintain your calendar after that date through your Outlook or the new online web mail program (OWA). While the concepts of a calendaring program are the same, the Exchange calendars will work differently than Corporatetime. The OIT will be offering training and quick users guides for the new features starting in December. For our off campus staff, we will work with you to make sure you have the information and training you need regarding the new calendaring.

DIS Website Released!

The Development Information Services (DIS) group would like to extend an invitation to all of our customers to visit our new web site at DIS.nd.edu. This new site incorporates some of the latest in technology with live data feeds, which are updated regularly, and contains information on new report releases and system outages. The site is a resource for all things technology. It will include such things as: Report and Major Project Status, News you can use, and Tips & FAQs for all of our major Development systems. Requests of all kinds can now be made from one location, these include requests for data/reports, training, and even equipment requests for new hires. The site also includes links to all of our major applications and a new area, called MyReports, where users can look at and review their data requests when completed.

We would also like to solicit your feedback of what you think of our new site. Tell us what you would like to see if you don’t see it there, and we will do our best to incorporate that into future designs.
